SCOTIABANK AND VISA EXPAND CARD TEST TO STUDENTS

Scotiabank and Visa Canada, both of Toronto, have expanded the test of their Visa cash card to Georgian College students attending the Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses in Ontario. Students will be able to use the card for identification purposes, to buy their meals, to purchase school supplies, to access the school library and to shop in Barrie. In Orillia and Owen Sound, the card can only be used at Georgian College campuses. In Barrie, the card can be used on and off-campus. Scotiabank and Visa Canada will promote the card to Georgian College students using on-campus posters created by Red Granite of Toronto. Scotiabank and Visa have been testing their cash card in Barrie since September 1997. Users load the card with cash, then each time the card is used for a purchase, the amount of the purchase its deducted from the card.
