MCNEIL RENAMES TYLENOL DRUG

McNeil Consumer Products Co. of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania has renamed its Tylenol Extended Relief over-the-counter medication. The drug is now called Tylenol Arthritis Extended Relief to reflect the product's use for people living with arthritis. McNeil says that 60% of doctors would recommend Tylenol Extended Relief for the management of arthritis pain, and 50% of consumers use the product to treat their arthritis pain. The company says the new name will make it easier to find the drug on store shelves. In Canada, McNeil has no current plans to market Tylenol Arthritis Extended Relief, Canadian consumer and public relations manager Annie Beauchemin told Adnews last week.
