By Adnews Staff
Miami-based Claire's Stores, which has outlets in Canada, has reported a 16% increase in sales for the four weeks ending Aug. 26. The reasons for the jump is the company's ever-changing trendy merchandise, says chairman Rowland Schaefer. Sales were over $27 million(US) last month, compared to just over $24 million during the same month last year. For the 30 weeks ending Aug. 26, the company had an increase in sales of 13%. Sales were over $173 million, up from just over $152 million during the same period in 1994. Claire's is a women's accessories chain which operates 1,269 stores in the U.S., the Caribbean, Canada and Japan. They run under the names Claire's, Claire's Boutiques, Topkapi, Dara Michelle and Claire's Accessories.
