HOFFMAN LAUNCHES STROKE INFORMATION SERVICE

Hoffmann-La Roche Limited of Mississauga, Ont. launched a stroke support program this week called the Ticlid Patient Care Service. Stroke sufferers take the drug Ticlid to prevent a recurrence, Registered nurses call first-time Ticlid user every two weeks for three months to remind patients to have their blood tested, and there is a 1-800 number staffed by RNs to answer questions about strokes. The company also supplies videos focusing on lifestyle matters such as diet and exercise, and Ticlid users receive quarterly newsletters from the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Print advertising for the service in medical journals began earlier this month. It was created by Anderson Advertising of Toronto. Consumer print advertising, done by NATIONAL PharmaCom of Toronto, will begin in September.
