Molson, Bumble ready ultimate date contest

Beer company Molson Coors is preparing a promotion called “Molson Matchup” in collaboration with dating mobile application Bumble. It is aimed primarily at hockey fans. The promotion takes the form of a contest, the winners of which will receive an “ultimate first date.” Five couples who meet through the app will win dinner, tickets to an NHL hockey game, in-arena entertainment, branded merchandise and car service. To participate, users of the app in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton can make a match with another user via a “Molson Matchup” profile card. The promotion will take place in Edmonton and Ottawa from Feb. 27 to March 10, and in Toronto and Montreal from Feb. 27 to March 17. The contest is being conducted in association with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers.

“Molson has been at the heart of so many connections over the years,” said Sophia Lal, senior brand manager at Molson Coors. “With our partnership with Bumble, we’re hoping to help their community connect in real life with a dream hockey date. No matter if you’re a die-hard hockey fan or enjoy it casually, there’s nothing like a night in-arena with Molson in hand to break the ice on a first date.”
