We Are Social launches video game practice

Social media marketing agency We Are Social has launched a new global practice focusing on recreational and competitive video gaming. Called We Are Social Gaming, the practice is intended to assist brands develop “meaningful and effective experiences” in video game environments. The practice consists of approximately 20 staff members from various international offices. Its services include research, tracking, creative development, influencer activities and content marketing.

“While many sectors were understandably hit hard by COVID over the past year and a half, the world of video games continued to grow in popularity,” said Coby Shuman, managing director of We Are Social Canada. “The Canadian gaming industry has grown to contribute $5.5 billion to the country’s total GDP. There are now 937 active gaming studios in Canada, a 35% increase over 2019. That’s why we’re focused on gaming as the next big cultural opportunity for brands. But much like the early days of social media, it’s fragmented and difficult to navigate. We have an obligation to be creative pioneers to help all our clients make an impact in this fast-moving and highly engaged space.”
