Awards: Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada

The Toronto-based Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada recently held its 2019 Sponsorship Marketing Awards. Mattel received the Best in Show award for its Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary campaign. Wasserman was named Agency of the Year. The Canadian Olympic Committee received the Property of the Year award for Team Canada.

Gold award winners included the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, Real Food Rescue by Hellmann’s and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, WJC FanCam by Hockey Canada, We Are Social Entrepreneurs, the Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary, BMO Celebrating Women, the Home Mini Launch by Google and the Toronto Raptors, RBC Golf, the Tim Hortons NHL fall 2018 hockey campaign, the Air Canada Olympic campaign and Canadian Tire’s “We All Play for Canada” campaign.

Inductees into the council’s Hall of Fame for 2019 included the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the “Itty Bitty Ballers" campaign by Go Daddy and the Toronto Raptors, and Chris Lang, chairman of the Lang Marketing Network.

“A judging committee of 21 sponsorship industry experts from across properties, brands and agencies followed a rigorous process of evaluation and discussion to choose the winners,” said judging chair Brenda Woods. “This was not an easy task given the number of hugely successful and innovative programs that were submitted.”
