By Adnews Staff
Social media agency We Are Social and Hootsuite, a provider of social media management software, have released additional results from their annual report on Canadian digital media usage. According to the report, Canadian Internet users are spending 22% more time using video game consoles than they were a year ago. In addition, 19.5% of Internet users say they watch some kind of gaming content each week. The report also found a 6.6% rise in time spent on social media and a 16.9% rise in the time spent streaming music.
"Gaming in 2022 is an area so rich in opportunities for so many different kinds of brands," said Coby Shuman, managing director of We Are Social. "It's not a case of 'everything you thought you knew is wrong.' It's that there's so much more to know, from the diversity of people who now consider themselves gamers, to the expansion of platforms on which these communities interact."
