Toronto Star debuts new design
By Adnews Staff

The Toronto Star has undertaken a redesign intended to make the newspaper more “clean, airy and engaging.” The new design makes use of more white space and additional photography. It retains the existing visual style, fonts and text size. Editorially, additional sports pages will run each day with separate sports sections on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The former Life and Entertainment sections have been combined into a new Culture section. The Saturday Homefinder section has been renamed Real Estate. The redesign was conducted by Fadi Yaacoub, vice-president of multimedia at Torstar, and designer Gayle Grin. The new design will also be applied to Torstar’s regional daily newspapers.
“I can hear people saying, ‘Why change?’ or ‘Why invest in print now?’” said Yaacoub. “We value our print readers and wanted to make their print experience even better and make it more delightful and engaging.”
