Teck Resources conducts health campaign

Copper producer Teck Resources has begun a campaign intended to raise awareness of the antimicrobial properties of copper and how it can help stop the spread of bacteria and viruses in public spaces. Developed by Will of Vancouver, the initiative made use of a street promotion during which a public entryway was divided into two options for ingress: a regular door and a copper door. Passers-by were informed that copper surfaces kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, resulting in a unanimous choice among participants to enter through the copper door.

The campaign, which will run until mid-April, also includes social media content, digital display ads and out-of-home advertising in Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa, as well as a website at <http://www.copperstopsthespread.ca>.

“Now more than ever, people are concerned about staying safe and healthy, particularly in public settings and shared spaces,” said Lisa Lebedovich, creative director at Will. “When we learned about the efficacy of copper surfaces in killing viruses and bacteria, it seemed obvious to us to use those very spaces to help get our message across.”
