American Express conducts Shop Small promotion

American Express Canada of Toronto has begun a promotion called “Shop Small” intended to support small businesses as they reopen following the COVID-19 lockdown. It includes national advertising that encourages consumers to patronize local small businesses. American Express has also launched an online service called the Shop Small Map, which allows users to locate local businesses that are open for in-store or online purchases. It is located at <http://www.americanexpress.ca/shopsmall>. The program is part of an international promotion by American Express taking place in six countries.

“Small businesses across the country need our support now more than ever,” said Lisa Kalhans, president and CEO of American Express Canada. “‘Shop Small’ is about standing by the small business owners who have given so much to our communities. As an organization, we understand the critical role we can play in encouraging not only our own cardmembers, but all Canadians to get out there and show up for small businesses. Our goal with this promotion is to have cardmembers show up for small businesses as much as possible. We want them to support multiple local businesses, which is why we've made it possible to earn the credit ten times by shopping at ten different businesses online, curbside or in-store.”
