Ontario Medical Association prepares Doctors' Day promotion

The Toronto-based Ontario Medical Association is preparing a promotion called “Shine a Light for All They Do,” intended to encourage consumers to express support for the province’s doctors. The initiative will invite Ontario residents to express this support on May 1 by going outside or to a window and holding up their smartphone flashlight at 9 PM for five minutes. The promotion is timed to coincide with Doctors’ Day. The promotion includes social media activities and online content at <http://www.doctorsday.ca>.

“Ontario has been celebrating Doctors' Day for many years to recognize the many ways doctors lead us to better health,” said Sohail Gandhi, president of the association. “This year on Doctors' Day, we wanted to do something special to recognize how doctors prepared for COVID, manage through COVID, and getting ready for the next waves of COVID, all while taking care of their patients. Shining a light has become a universal way of expressing gratitude for those leading the way out of crises. We're hoping everyone across the province can take a moment to join us on Doctors' Day and shine a light for all they do.”
