Videotron to provide smartphones to youth and senior centres

Videotron of Montreal has announced a new initiative that will provide 1,000 smartphones with unlimited data plans to Quebec youth rehabilitation centres and long-term care facilities. According to the company, the effort is intended to alleviate the isolation experienced by youths and seniors housed at these locations by allowing them to remain in contact with family members and loved ones. It is being implemented in collaboration with the Government of Quebec. Videotron is a subsidiary of Quebecor Media.

“At this time in our history, we are realizing the full importance of the human contact we once took for granted,” said Jean-François Pruneau, president and CEO of Videotron. “These devices will enable users to stay connected with their families and loved ones, and to focus on what matters most, their health. Videotron is pleased to help break down the isolation of young people and seniors living in CRJDAs and CHSLDs.”
