CPRS, Mount Saint Vincent University form agreement

The Canadian Public Relations Society has formed an agreement with Mount Saint Vincent University of Halifax to provide students in the school's public relations program with membership in the society. Students in the first three years of the program will be made members of CPRS Nova Scotia, while fourth-year students will receive membership in the national organization. According to the society, these memberships will permit students to expand their industry connections and knowledge. The agreement is the result of a gift to the university from the estate of Neil and Ivy Oakley. Neil Oakley was national president of the CPRS from 1976 to 1977 and participated in the establishment of the Bachelor of Public Relations program at Mount Saint Vincent.

"As a Mount Bachelor of Public Relations graduate myself, I'm thrilled future practitioners will be given the opportunity to get involved with the Canadian Public Relations Society both locally and nationally," said Dana Dean, president of the Canadian Public Relations Society. "This partnership with the Mount continues to ensure that the CPRS Code of Professional Standards is instilled from day one, creating a strong foundation of professional ethics on which students can build successful lifelong careers."
