Canadian Tire, Kidde Canada begin carbon monoxide campaign

Canadian Tire has begun a promotion in association with Kidde Canada and Scount Environmental intended to raise awareness of the risk of carbon monoxide. Called "Detect to Protect," the effort includes in-store events, giveaways and discounts on carbon monoxide detectors. Promotional workers will provide information about the symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure and the importance of proper maintenence and testing of a CO detector. The promotion also includes a website with a contest component at <http://www.detecttoprotect.ca>. The initiative will run until the end of November.

"Canadian Tire is proud to work with Health Canada, Scout Environmental, and Kidde Canada on this important initiative," said Slavica Kacarevic, associate vice-president at Canadian Tire. "Our hope is that this campaign will help raise awareness of the dangers associated with carbon monoxide, remind homeowners to check their alarms regularly to ensure they're working properly, and replace them every 10 years in accordance with the expiry date on the label."
