Call2Recycle conducts battery recycling campaign

Toronto-based non-profit organization Call2Recycle has begun an awareness promotion called "Lead the Charge." The effort encourages consumers to recycle used batteries on Feb. 18, designated National Battery Day, by dropping them off at a Call2Recycle location. The campaign focuses on the need for the responsible disposal of old batteries to protect the environment and prevent garbage fires.

"The many benefits that batteries provide reinforce the vital role they play in our world," said Linda Gabor, vice president of marketing and customer service at Call2Recycle. "The freedom to go unplugged also comes with the responsibility to ensure the proper and safe disposal of batteries when they reach their end-of-life. National Battery Day serves as a reminder that recycling used batteries is an easy, year-round action that's good for the environment."
