The Toronto-based Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada has signed a spokesperson agreement with professional hockey player Max Domi. Domi, who has type one diabetes, will support the foundation's "Walk to Cure Diabetes" national fundraising initiative. He will also participate in promotions intended to raise awareness of the disease by describing his personal experience.
In related news, Bell Media has signed-on as the national media sponsor of the foundation's "Walk" and "Ride" fundraising efforts. The agreement includes national multi-media exposure for JDRF through advertising on Bell Media radio, television and out-of-home properties, including CTV, TSN and Astral.
"Max is living proof that having type one diabetes shouldn't stand in the way of achieving your goals," said Dave Prowten, president and CEO of the foundation. "JDRF is excited to team up with Max and put a face to this disease by sharing his story and inspiring Canadians to participate in the JDRF 'Walk to Cure Diabetes.' We are also proud to partner with Bell Media, one of Canada's largest media and content producers, to help us get Max's story out in the public and bring greater awareness for the need to raise research dollars."
