MICROSOFT GOES WITH COMMUNIQUE
By Adnews Staff
Microsoft Canada of Mississauga, Ont. hired a new agency last week to work on the creative and media planning portion of its account. The Communique Group of Toronto was given the account after a two-month review because "we felt they represent the best strategic fit," corporate communications manager Al Saplys told Adnews this week. Communique will localize U.S. creative from Weiden & Kennedy of Portland, Oregon, as well as create Canadian ads for the Canadian marketplace. In addition, incumbent PR agency Hill & Knowlton of Toronto will continue working for Microsoft. Incumbent media buying agency, Media Buying Services of Toronto, will continue on the account as well. In total, nine unnamed agencies were vying for the three portions of the account.
