Wow Unlimited Media plans children's specialty channel

Wow Unlimited Media of Toronto is in discussions to acquire a Category B specialty broadcasting license from Bell Media. In exchange, Bell would receive a 12% ownership stake in Wow worth approximately $6.8 million. Wow and Bell Media would also enter into an agreement via which Bell would carry a Wow-branded children's entertainment channel in place of the present specialty channel. Wow would also supply children's content for use on Bell's CraveTV and Snackable TV services. The two companies would also collaborate future programming development.

"This strategic partnership will drive our planned multi-platform rollout of a new paradigm in entertainment for kids and youth across North America," said Michael Hirsh, chairman and CEO of Wow Unlimited. "In addition, the support and collaborative efforts of Canada's leading media and telecommunication company will provide strong momentum to Wow's global expansion plans."
