MACLAREN MCCANN SAILS WITH NATIONAL SEA

MacLaren McCann Canada Inc. of Toronto was given the National Sea Products account this week. The agency won in a competition with Bates Canada and TBWA Chiat/Day Inc., both of Toronto. According to ACNielsen estimates, National Sea spent $880,000 on advertising last year. However, company president Barry Philippson told Adnews that figure was inaccurate. Leo Burnett Company Ltd. of Toronto was the incumbent on the account for 10 years, but the agency parted ways with National Sea in late October, saying it had created a couple of TV ads for the company that were never launched due to National Sea cutting its entire advertising budget. Toronto-based National Sea Products markets frozen seafood products.
