WAL-MART LAUNCHES "A.S.K." PROGRAM

"A.S.K." and the consumer shall receive. Wal-Mart Canada introduced its new "acquiring self-knowledge" program yesterday. It is a pharmacy project that provides people with tools to make informed, personal decisions about their health, along with current in-pharmacy services such as computerized medication profiles, personalized drug information and private patient counselling areas. Included in the "A.S.K." program are a series of in-store video presentations on current health topics and a newsletter covering a range of health issues and specific medical conditions. In addition, consumers will receive an "A.S.K." card that lists critical health information to provide assistance in emergency situations. The program was officially launched July 19 in English-speaking Canada. The first newsletter will include articles on skin care, treating sunburns, heat injuries and living with epilepsy. Promotion for "A.S.K.", which was created in-house, will include advertisements in the monthly newsletter, as well as in-store signs.
