WestJet begins home run contest with Blue Jays

Calgary-based airline WestJet has begun a contest promotion as part of its sponsorship of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. During the promotion, which will run through the rest of the team's regular season, each time a Blue Jays player hits a home run into the WestJet Flight Deck seating area at Rogers Centre, one consumer will win 25,000 "WestJet dollars," which can be redeemed for eligible flights or travel packages. The company will distribute a maximum of three such prizes. If no home run is hit into the contest area in that time, one random consumer will receive a trip for four to a destination of the winner's choice and a package of Blue Jays merchandise. "This year, we took our relationship with the Blue Jays to the next level, literally, with the opening of the WestJet Flight Deck and WestJet Plus Suite at Rogers Centre," said Corey Evans, WestJet's manager of sponsorship, community investment and experiential marketing. "To add to the excitement of what is already a sensational season, this contest will have fans swinging for the fences. The Blue Jays are the tops in the majors for homers as a team so far this year."
