Toys R Us begins chief play officer promotion

Toronto-based retail chain Toys R Us Canada has begun a contest promotion to find a "chief play officer." Children between the ages of 11 and 13 can enter online at <http://www.toysrus.ca/cposearch> by submitting a video illustrating why they should get the job or describing their favourite toys. Submissions will close on Oct. 4. The company will evaluate the videos on the basis of originality, creativity and enthusiasm. A group of finalists will be interviewed by a judging panel. The winner will receive a one-year contract for the position.

The chief play officer will participate in toy training sessions and toy testing. The winner will also appear in promotional videos about trends in toys, as well as at special events. This is the fourth time Toys R Us has conducted this promotion.

"The chief play officer is one of the most coveted jobs in our company," said Liz MacDonald, vice-president of marketing and store planning at Toys R Us Canada. "As an integral member of our team, we rely on our CPO for honest opinions and toy reviews to help advise parents and gift-givers on what kids like. If you have a child who is passionate about toys, outgoing and comfortable on camera, we want to hear from you. We are always impressed with the creativity and energy of the kids who apply and can't wait to see this year's entries."
