Workplace Safety & Insurance Board begins social media contest

The Toronto-based Workplace Safety & Insurance Board has begun a social media campaign called "Practice Safe Work." The contest promotion is aimed primarily at young workers in Ontario between the ages of 15 and 24. Until Sept. 2, participants can enter a draw for daily and weekly cash prizes by posting images demonstrating their safe work practices via Twitter using a campaign hashtag. The promotion also includes a website at <http://www.practicesafework.ca>.

"Young worker health and safety is everyone's business and educating young workers about health and safety in the workplace is critical to reducing and eliminating injuries and fatalities," said Elizabeth Witmer, chair of the organization. "We must keep raising awareness of the need to keep our workplaces healthy and safe."
