Ontario Power Generation begins water safety campaign

Toronto-based Ontario Power Generation has begun a new public service announcement campaign called "The Power of Water." The campaign focuses on water safety and the dangerous water near hydroelectric dams and generating stations. The 30-second television commercial follows a single drop of water as it moves through the Trethewey Falls Generating Station in Bracebridge, ON. The ad will run through the summer on Ontario television networks. It is part of a larger multi-media effort comprising print, radio and online advertising to promote water safety near dams and power stations.
"OPG has a longstanding commitment to promoting water safety," said Ted Gruetzner, vice-president of corporate relations and communications at Ontario Power Generation. "More than a third of our power comes from renewable hydroelectric generation, so we're always exploring new ways to keep the 'stay clear, stay safe' message fresh and memorable."
Ontario Power Generation operates 65 hydroelectric stations and 240 dams in the province.
