Quebec City signs transit ad deal with Astral

The Réseau de transport de la Capitale, which provides public transportation services in Quebec City, has signed a 10-year agreement with Astral Out of Home to manage its transit shelter and bus advertising inventory. The term begins on July 1. Quebec City's transit system includes 605 buses and 4,617 stops, carrying 147,000 unique passengers per month.

Astral will also install several upgrades to the transit organization's system. Buses and 20% of shelters will provide five-minute video news updates to smartphone users. Seventy digital touch screens will be installed in shelters to provide information to consumers. Heating systems will be added to 10 bus shelters. Astral will also take over the advertising transit shelter maintenance program.

"We are proud to have been selected by the RTC as part of a rigorous selection process and look forward to leveraging our innovative vision, creativity, and extensive experience to the benefit of its clients," said Luc Quétel, president of Astral Out of Home. "This partnership will also enable us to create unique opportunities for advertisers in the Quebec City market, and reinforce Bell's strong bond with the city as an economic, media, technology and cultural vector."

Astral Out of Home is a division of Bell Media.
