Northern Ontario tourism campaign begins

The Toronto-based Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation has begun a marketing campaign encouraging consumers to visit the northern parts of the province. The campaign is aimed at consumers in Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec and the United States. The effort will include the distribution of 810,000 copies of a magazine called "Explore the Possibilities in Northern Ontario." Half of the publication covers various regions of northern Ontario, while the other half covers specific experiences such as angling, hunting, power sports and outdoor adventuring. It will also be distributed over several months to subscribers of magazines including Outdoor Canada, Maclean's, Our Canada and National Geographic Traveler. The initiative will also include participation in trade and consumer shows related to outdoor activities, as well as social media activities and a website at <http://www.ontariotravel.net/north>.

"Northern Ontario is front and centre with the new campaign launched by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation," said Carol Caputo, chair of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation Northern Tourism Marketing Committee. "Great outdoor products, cities, towns and attractions are all captured through thoughtful stories about why everyone should visit this part of our province. From fantastic fishing and hunting, touring experiences that are second to none and, of course, our nature and adventure product, the campaign is sure to entice travellers to the North."
