Hill&Knowlton adds staff

Hill&Knowlton Canada has appointed Jason MacDonald to the position of vice-president in its Ottawa corporate practice. He will also be national deputy practice leader of corporate communications. MacDonald was previously director of communications and chief spokesperson for Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Prior to that, he was director of communications and deputy chief of staff for two federal ministers of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.

Susan Schutta has been appointed a vice-president in the agency's Toronto corporate practice. She was most recently a senior director at Walmart Canada, responsible for media relations, social media strategy, employee programs, private label brand launches and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Prior to that, she worked at Nortel Networks and BMO Financial Group.

Sarah Andrewes, vice-president of corporate communications in Toronto office, has been promoted to the additional position of national deputy practice leader for crisis communications.

Deborah Rowe has recently joined the agency in Toronto as an account director. She was most recently a vice-president at Weber Shandwick and an account director at Environics.

Emily Vear has been hired as a senior consultant. She was previously at Target Canada, where she developed public relations strategies and media relations campaigns.
