The Canadian Tourism Commission has begun a new advertising campaign in the United Kingdom encouraging consumers to take a winter vacation in Canada. The campaign, which will run until mid-December, focuses on winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, dog sledding, snowshoeing, glacier viewing, rail trips and winter festivals. The campaign makes use of advertising on websites including Yahoo, MSN, Lonely Planet and Sky Scanner, as well as blog communications and social media activities. The commission is conducting the effort in association with Travel Alberta, the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Tourisme Québec, Tourism British Columbia, Air Canada, Tourism Whistler, Tourism Jasper, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Big White and Silver Star Resorts and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. "This new campaign will remind UK consumers, and our competitors, of Canada's strengths in the winter tourism market," said Rupert Peters, the commission's regional managing director in the UK. "Canada's unrivaled choice of experiences for winter travelers from coast to coast to coast means that it should be the go-to destination for UK travelers."
