COMPAQ OFFERS UP NEW SERVER
By Adnews Staff
The Compaq Computer Corporation released a new network server in North America last week. Called the ProLiant 2500, the product is targeted at departmental and remote branch office sites and is suited to handle departmental data bases as well as Internet or intranet applications. Compaq says the server's modular design reduces maintenance costs and allows for easier upgrades to new processors or input/output technology. The design also allows users to convert the server from a tower to a rack-mountable unit in less than five minutes for easy re-deployment. In Canada, a national print campaign for the new server began running this week in business newspapers, business magazines, technology publications and reseller publications. The ads depict the server in three pieces, much like a puzzle. The headline reads, "It's an Internet server. It's an application server. It's a file and print server. Can an identity crisis be a virtue?" Ammirati Puris Lintas of New York created the ads. The agency's Toronto office performed the Canadian media buy.
