MEC conducts holiday campaign

Outdoor equipment retailer MEC has begun a holiday season campaign consisting of an online video and a social media contest. The 40-second video depicts a character called Nick, a bearded man in red clothing who describes the ways in which he is more athletic than Santa Claus. The video promotes MEC as a place to get holiday gifts for adventurous people. The initiative also includes a list of gift suggestions called "Nick's Picks" that will be posted on the MEC.ca website. Consumers can enter the contest portion of the campaign by takin photographs of themselves in an MEC store with one of these products and submitting it via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Prizes will be awarded weekly until Dec. 17.
