Canadian Cancer Society starts Million Dollar Hockey Pool campaign

The Canadian Cancer Society has begun a fundraising campaign called the "Million Dollar Hockey Pool." Developed by Toronto-based Harbinger in association with UM, the campaign takes the form of a contest to achieve the longest streak of winning game selections during the NHL season. Participants who make daily picks at <http://www.milliondollarhockeypool.ca> resulting in a 45-game winning streak will be eligible to win $1 million.

"We were keen to find an innovative idea that would appeal to people," said Jeff Weiss, president of Harbinger. "We know that many Ontarians already participate in some kind of fantasy sports league. By playing Million Dollar Hockey Pool, people could win $1 million dollars and other great prizes plus fight cancer at the same time."

The contest will be supported with promotional material featuring sports broadcasters Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole. The initiative will run until April 11, 2015.
