Snow Sports Canada launches

A group of seven Canadian winter sports organizations has formed a new body called Snow Sports Canada in an effort to attract sponsors to their events. The participating organizations are Alpine Canada, Biathlon Canada, Canada Snowboard, Cross Country Ski Canada, Freestyle Canada, Nordic Combined Canada and Ski Jumping Canada. According to the group, they collectively represent 93,000 registered members and 5.4 million recreational participants.
Their intent is to develop "a new sponsorship platform that capitalizes on their collective success to provide partners with a deeper value proposition and broader storytelling opportunity," beginning with the Canadian athletes competing in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The group will also work to connect brands to athletes in training, grassroots organizations and recreational enthusiasts.
