Philips Canada begins Game Face promotion with Maple Leafs

Personal care company Philips Canada has begun a contest promotion called "Game Face" in association with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. The promotion will encourage male fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs to grow beards as a show of support for the team, starting now rather than waiting for the hockey season playoffs. Philips is conducting the contest as part of its "official shaver" sponsorship of the Maple Leafs.

Consumers can enter the contest online at <http://www.mapleleafs.nhl.com/philips> by submitting photographs of their own faces. Images can also be submitted via Twitter. Entrants will receive images of their faces on an arena rink board to share on social media sites. The contest will run until the end of the year.

The randomly-selected grand prize winner will receive two tickets to a Leafs game, as well as their face on a rink board at Air Canada Centre during a game, dinner with a member of the Leafs Alumni Association, two autographed jerseys and a SensoTouch 3D electric shaver. Two secondary prize packages will include Leafs tickets and Philips Beard Trimmer 9000 shavers.

"Don't wait to put your game face on," said David Hopkinson, chief commercial officer at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. "Anybody can jump on the bandwagon late in the season, but we've got a young, exciting team out there on the ice every night and I know that being able to look out at the fans, the seventh man, gives them a real boost."
