GoodLife Fitness of London, ON has launched a new smartphone application called the GoodLife Fitness App. Consumers with Apple devices can use the application to schedule fitness classes, share gym passes with friends and receive notifications from the company. The program will also use GPS to locate the nearest fitness centre, and will provide access to videos and other fitness content from the GoodLife Blog. An Android version is planned for an early-2014 release. "The GoodLife Fitness App brings our extensive in-club health and fitness programs into the day-to-day lives of all Canadians," said John Muszak vice-president of marketing and public relations at GoodLife. "The App makes it simple for fitness enthusiasts to find their closest GoodLife club, learn about the latest fitness information posted on our blog and track workouts and daily activity."

The Toronto-based TD Irie Music Festival has launched a new smartphone application intended to be a guide to the upcoming event. The Apple and Android application, developed by TheAppLabb of Toronto, allows users to look up event schedules, create itineraries, get transportation information, read news, participate in contests and share information via social media networks. "Through the app we are certain to enrich the experience of thousands of attendees of this growing festival and create a strong and engaged Irie community," said Kundan Joshi, CEO of TheAppLabb. TD Irie Music Festival is a free, four-day event featuring reggae, soca, salsa and soul music. It will take place at Nathan Phillips Square from Aug. 2 to 5.
