Shopify buys Jet Cooper

Shopify of Ottawa has acquired Toronto-based design and user experience agency Jet Cooper. Shopify specializes in software for electronic commerce websites. The acquisition is intended to bolster the company's design capabilities and expand its presence in Toronto. Satish Kanwar, co-founder and CEO of Jet Cooper, as well as the company's 25 staff, will join Shopify. Founded in 2009, Jet Cooper's clients have included Cineplex, Sobeys, Telus, Metro News, Kik, and TEDxToronto. "This acquisition brings in some of the best designers in the world," said Tobias Lutke, founder and CEO of Shopify. "Jet Cooper has been doing ground breaking design and UX work for some very notable brands and we're thrilled to have them join our team."
