Unilever conducts Axe Apollo Space Academy promotion

Unilever Canada is participating in an international promotion for the company's Axe line of men's personal grooming products. The promotion takes the form of an online contest located at <http://www.axeapollo.com> and called the "Axe Apollo Space Academy." Twenty-two winners, including two Canadians, will receive tickets to travel to space on a flight from Space Expedition Corporation. The contest will run in 60 countries. Consumers can enter by visiting the website and creating a profile describing why they deserve to go to space. Public voting will determine the finalists, who will compete in the final stage of the contest at the Axe Global Space Camp in Orlando, FL. The winners will be selected based on their performance in a series of space-simulation events. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin will act as the spokesperson of the campaign. The contest will close on Aug. 31. "The Axe Apollo launch is the biggest and most ambitious in the Axe brand's 30 year history," said Tomas Marcenaro, global vice-president for the brand. "For the first time, we're simultaneously launching one global competition in over 60 countries offering millions of people the opportunity to win the most epic prize on earth, a trip to space. Yes, actual space."
