TC Media buys Metro Montreal

Transcontinental subsidiary TC Media has become the sole owner of commuter newspaper Metro Montréal and its associated interactive properties. The existing management staff will remain in place. The publication was previously owned by a group consisting of Metro International, Transcontinental and Gesca. No financial details are available. Metro Montréal will now supply content to various Transcontinental properties, including morning show Ça commence bien, which will debut on V in the fall. Metro Montréal reaches approximately 245,000 readers per week. "This acquisition is excellent news for TC Media and our clients, advertisers and readers, since it will enable us to enrich the content we provide," said François Olivier, interim president of TC Media. "It will also increase the advertising opportunities for Metro Montréal, primarily through links with other TC Media products, which should create new and interesting possibilities for our advertisers."
