Ubisoft conducts Hot Pick contest

Video game company Ubisoft Canada has begun a contest promotion called "Hot Pick" in support of its guitar-based game Rocksmith. Until Feb. 18, Canadian players can enter by submitting a video of a cover version of one of three songs by heavy metal band Megadeth. Public voting at and a panel of judges will select nine winners. Each winner will receive two tickets of one of nine Canadian Megadeth shows. Each winner will also compete against Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick in a game of Rocksmith. If the player can beat Broderick's score, they will win his guitar. "Rocksmith is a genuinely authentic guitar experience," said Adam Partington, director of marketing and communications at Ubisoft. "There is no other game that lets anyone, from amateurs to skilled rockers, be a living room legend on a real guitar. Now the Hot Pick Contest gives our fans the opportunity to prove their rock cred and interact with Megadeth, one of the best names in metal music." Elements of the Hot Pick contest were developed by Montreal-based Akufen, with public relations from Edelman.
