Vancouver Aquarium conducts Toronto restaurant contest

The Vancouver Aquarium has begun a promotion in association with eight Toronto restaurants called "Toronto's Ultimate Ocean Wise Seafoodie Competition." The initiative is intended to raise awareness of "ocean-friendly" seafood. "The current rate and manner in which we extract seafood from the ocean is not sustainable," said Mike McDermid, Ocean Wise partner relationship manager at the Vancouver Aquarium. "Ocean Wise Seafoodies help to spread the word on making sustainable choices to ensure marine life will be around for generations to come." To enter the contest, Toronto-area residents can submit a 30-second video via Facebook demonstrating their commitment to ocean-friendly eating. Twelve semi-finalists will then partake in a meal and submit a video review. The winner will receive dinner for four at C5, a cooking class for two at the Calphalon Culinary Centre and a 13-piece cooking set.
