Canwest readies Twist TV

Canwest Broadcasting will launch a new digital specialty channel called Twist TV on Nov. 1. The channel, which will use the tagline "Life throws curves," will specialize in programming about family issues. It will be aimed primarily at women between the ages of 25 and 54. The launch of Twist TV follows Canwest subsidiary CW Media's purchase in 2009 of the shares of Discovery Health Channel Canada previously held by Discovery Communications. "Canwest's lifestyle channels are the most popular in Canada," said Karen Gelbart, senior vice-president of lifestyle content at Canwest Broadcasting. "Food Network and HGTV are the top two favourite channels for Canadian women and we are confident that Twist TV will quickly become another audience favourite."
