Bluepoint Investment to buy Saskatchewan Communications Network
By Adnews Staff
The Government of Saskatchewan will sell public broadcaster the Saskatchewan Communications Network to Bluepoint Investment, a privately-owned Ontario company. The offer includes a commitment to purchase the network's physical assets as well as its film and video assets. In addition, Bluepoint will be financially responsible for ongoing operations while applying to the CRTC for a transfer of the broadcast license. "Bluepoint offered the best bid," said Dustin Duncan, the province's Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister. "It was also the only proposal with a business plan that required no public investment. Along with buying the assets there is also a commitment to buy new Saskatchewan programming content that will support the film industry and to develop digital content. This proposal is the best value for taxpayer dollars."
