BETTY CROCKER NOW MAKING CEREAL
By Adnews Staff
Betty Crocker is going to be hanging out in U.S. cereal aisles. U.S.-based General Mills will introduce its Betty Crocker line of cereals in the fall with its first two flavors: Dutch Apple and Cinnamon Streusel. TV and radio advertising will support the launch. It will be created by DDB Needham's Chicago office. There will also be ads on milk cartons, and Betty Crocker's red spoons pasted to supermarket floors will guide shoppers to the product. Canadian General Mills officials were unavailable to comment on whether the cereal will come to Canada. Betty Crocker products account for $1.5 billion, or nearly 30%, of General Mills' annual sales. The Betty Crocker name is also on items such as scalloped potatoes, microwave popcorn and chewy fruit snacks.
