CHUM Radio reduces staff

CHUM Radio plans to reduce its staff by 40 in an effort to reduce operating expenses. Seventeen existing staff members will be terminated and 23 vacant positions will be eliminated. The staff reductions will take place at stations in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, London, Toronto, Peterborough, Ottawa and Montreal. "Today's announcement is a consequence of the decline in advertising revenue as a result of the current economic climate," said Chris Gordon, president of CHUM Radio. CHUM Radio is a division of CTV.
