Fleishman-Hillard Canada hires Solberg, promotes Guirguis

Fleishman-Hillard Canada has appointed Monte Solberg to the position of senior advisor. He will work out of the agency's Calgary office. Solberg was a member of the federal Cabinet from 2006 to October 2008, first as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada and later as Minster of Human Resources and Social Development. Prior to 2006, he was the Conservative Party's critic for finance, human resources development, national revenue and foreign affairs. He represented the riding of Medicine Hat, AB in Parliament from 1993 to 2008. Ron Guirguis, a senior partner at Fleishman-Hillard in Ottawa, has been promoted to the position of managing director of national public affairs. He will lead the agency's national public affairs activities. Guirguis joined the firm nine years ago.
