Canwest promotes new newspaper websites

Canwest Global Communications has prepared an advertising campaign to promote the redesign of its 10 daily newspaper websites. The new design features simpler navigation, less scrolling, more local news, more opportunities for readers to leave comments, rich media such as video clips, a new classified ads system, and social networking tools. "It is a fresher, more intuitive experience for users, offers richer and more targeted opportunities for both local and national advertisers while continuing to deliver the depth of trusted and engaging content that Canadians expect from their Canwest newspaper sites," said Graham Moysey, senior vice-president at Canwest Digital Media. The national advertising campaign, developed by Smith Roberts Creative Communications of Toronto, promotes the websites as a way to become better informed. The creative depicts various people wearing sashes in the style of a beauty pageant. The sashes read, "Ms. Know-it-all" or "Mr. Know-it-all." Each execution will be localized for each market. Canwest's daily newspapers include the Victoria Times Colonist, the Vancouver Province, the Vancouver Sun, the Edmonton Journal, the Calgary Herald, the Regina Leader-Post, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the Windsor Star, the Ottawa Citizen and the Montreal Gazette.
