Wendy's Kick for a Million contest returns for fourth year

Television specialty channel TSN and fast food chain Wendy's have resumed their annual joint contest promotion called "Wendy's Kick for a Million" for a fourth year. As in previous years, the winner of the contest will attempt to kick field goals from various distances during a CFL halftime show in order to win prizes. The kick attempts will take place during a game in Toronto in Oct. 3. The contest began on July 25 and will run until Sept. 7. Consumers can enter online at <http://www.tsn.ca/wendys>. Additional entries can can gained by referring others to the contest or by submitting keywords displayed in television commercials. In a modification to the old format, two randomly-selected contestants from eastern Canada and two from western Canada will first compete in regional quarterfinal events in Toronto and Vancouver. The winners of that round will compete in a semifinal in Toronto. The winner of that round will participate in the final round. If the final contestant can kick a field goal from the 50-yard line, he or she will win $1 million. A goal from the 40-yard line will result in a $100,000 prize. A goal from the 30-yard line will win the contestant a Gridiron Edition Nissan Titan, while a 20-yard kick will win the kicker a $25,000 gift card from Future Shop. In addition, three randomly chosen attendees at the game will have a chance to win a trip for two to the 2008 Grey Cup in Montreal if the contestant makes the 20-yard goal. "Wendy’s Kick for a Million has evolved into a huge, must-see event," said Phil King, president of TSN. "It gives every day sports fans a chance to be part of the action and win big. The success has led to other innovative and lucrative contests on the network and has become the industry benchmark for all sports fan contests in Canada." The contest is being promotes with 15- and 30-second television commercials on TSN and TSN HD, as well as public relations, online materials and in-restaurant materials.
