Social networking website Skyrock.com, based in France, has launched a Canadian version of its service in English and French. The company, which describes Skyrock.com as the premier Francophone social network, operates localized version of the site in 14 countries. According to the company, the sites attract approximately 20 million users per month. The Canadian site is located at <http://ca.skyrock.com>.
CTV has launched a new website at Mynews.ctv.ca. The site is intended to collect and display user-generated content submitted by visitors who have captured news-worthy video footage or still images on their video camera or cellular phones. Interesting footage will be used to supplement CTV's in-house newsgathering efforts nationally and locally. "News happens anywhere, anytime, and this is a perfect way for Canadians to help us share any breaking news they are witnessing, as it occurs, with the rest of the country and the world," said Mark Sikstrom, executive producer of CTV.ca. "This site will work well with CTV's newsgathering and provide a first-hand perspective on newsworthy events from those first on the scene."
