Coalition for Music Education in Canada releases PSA

The Toronto-based Coalition for Music Education in Canada has released a 30-second television public service announcement promoting its fourth annual Music Monday event. The organization uses the first Monday in May to recognize the importance of music in schools. The animated ad was created by Doug Agency of Toronto. "The core idea behind this PSA was developed from the poster we designed for Music Monday, forming a map of Canada out of musical notes," said creative director Doug Robinson. "It demonstrates the birth of music, the power it can have in one's life and even how music can bring an entire country together." On May 5, several hundred thousand students and other musicians nationally will perform the same song at the same time to mark the day. The ad will also be adapted for the US, where the International Music Products Association will use it as part of its "Wanna Play Music Week" initiative from May 5 to 9.
