Insurance Bureau of Canada breaks educational campaign

The Toronto-based Insurance Bureau of Canada has begun a campaign intended to educate Canadians about home, car and business insurance. The national campaign consists of television and radio commercials that direct consumers to a website at IBC.ca. The ads use the tagline, "If you want to know, here's where to go." The site offers a range of information about different types of insurance. It also offers software that can be used to make an inventory of possessions. "We have known for some time that consumers have a tendency to overestimate what they know about insurance," said Mark Yakabuski, president and CEO of the bureau. "We have, therefore, developed a targeted campaign to give consumers easy access to information to help them determine their home, car and business insurance needs."
